About our club

Thank you for visiting the Solo Graduates website. Solo Graduates Inc. is a social group run by member volunteers. It is based in Melbourne, Australia, but its activities are not limited to the metropolitan area.

Solo Graduates was formed in 1991 by graduates of the University of Melbourne, and was incorporated in 2005. Solo Graduates Inc is run by members, primarily to provide opportunities for single people to meet and enjoy friendship in different social settings. Solo Graduates is a not-for-profit organisation and provides good value as events are hosted by members.

Membership is open to degree graduates of all universities and other tertiary institutions.

Most members are aged 45 years and over.

Our Statement of Purpose

In 2005, as part of the process of incorporating our club, we submitted this description of our aims to Corporate Affairs Victoria:

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (CAV Ref: #3499846)

• To provide the opportunity for single graduates, including those who are separated, divorced or widowed, of tertiary educational institutions, to meet and participate in a wide range of social, recreational and cultural activities
• To provide a social environment that welcomes single graduates
• To foster a network of friendship for single graduates to meet, and affiliate, in safe social and recreational settings
• To foster interest in cultural, philosophical, environmental and educational exchange
• To encourage the interchange of ideas across the widest band of the arts, science and humanities
• To encourage the ideal of life long learning
